A Workshop Proposal for Vibrant Practices Symposium
Category: Workshop with participants
“In 1913,” recalled Marcel Duchamp, “I had the happy idea to fasten a bicycle wheel to a kitchen stool and watch it turn.”
Throughout the two episodes of national lock down in the UK and the current global pandemic , the collective ‘we’ have never been so close to routinely positioning our individual bodies behind the ‘black mirror’ (Cregan-Reid) in terms of life, work and research activities.
Inspired by Pascal Lièvre’s performance ‘Aérobic Magritte et les philosophes’ (Lièvre and Zoubir) and the Comédie-Française’s 2020 marathon reading relay of Marcel Proust’s ‘In Search of Lost Time’, Aerobic Aesthetics is a virtual atelier which allows volunteer participants to reconsider the ‘physical literacy’ (Whitehead) on interpreting visual culture through live dance and performance. This interactive and participatory experience requires both cognitive and bodily effort.
To take part in the workshop, participants must pre-book and will receive an online Zoom meeting invitation.
